How MaintainPress started
In 2009, I started building WordPress websites for a couple of freelance designers and small agencies. It was side work I enjoyed, something I could do on my breaks at my full-time job.
This was a little before “WordPress care plans” became a thing. I won’t pretend I came up with the idea, but I did feel pretty smart when I realized, early on, that the sites we were building could really benefit from ongoing care.
So from that first year, we didn’t just build sites. We looked after them too. Today, MaintainPress is a small team of WordPress developers and assistants. We work with business owners directly and with agencies behind the scenes, handling everything from updates and security to blog posts and business hours. Hundreds of businesses later, the job hasn’t changed: take care of the website so the people who own it don’t have to.
